My new coaching gig

While on my postpartum fitness journey, I finally found a program that works for me. It is BeachBody's Hammer and Chisel program. It is an intense weightlifting program and it is exactly what I was looking for.
Having infant twins at home, I am not easily able to leave the house. It takes a lot of effort to go anywhere with my babies. Beyond that, my girls are excellent sleepers. It is a blessing. It is also limiting because they need their naps and they are sticklers for their schedule/routine. For these reasons, me going to a gym is just not worth it.
I knew from jump that I needed a workout program that I could do at home.
My husband is amazing and helped me put together a nice home gym on our back deck. It is a nice, quiet space where I can break a sweat while the babies are napping. Having my home gym ready, I started looking into different at-home workouts.
Tone It Up is my original go-to. Those ladies (Karena and Katrina) are super fun and engaging, and they've facilitated a major community on social media. Their community can give followers a sense of camaraderie and support. This is very valuable to any major life change; because that is what they are promoting: a lifestyle overhaul. I have been a member of the TIU community for years. I love their nutrition plan and I use it quite often. Lately though, I have felt a disconnect from the community. What was once supportive and inclusive, has begun close off and leave me alienated. This community doesn't feel like my community. It's too large to offer me anything real.
Beside that, I am not a fan of their workouts. Even postpartum, these workouts aren't enough for me. I like to lift weights, heavy weights. With that in mind, I moved on from Tone It Up.
My next stop was to use the Bikini Body Guide by Kayla Itsines. I love HIIT workouts so this was initially a great fit. I lost about 20 lbs over the course of 5 months, which is probably more correlated to my diet than these workouts. I appreciated the workouts, but I didn't enjoy them. They were a means to an end. To me, they weren't engaging, and so I would watch bad reality tv on my iPad what the BBG app was running on my phone. Beyond all that, there was the cost to consider. It is $19.99 a month to subscribe to the BBG app.... an app that I wasn't truly enjoying.
I decided what I needed in my ideal workout program: (1) Short duration- 30-40 mins tops. This mama doesn't have hours to dedicate to working out anymore. (2) Weight lifting!! It must have me sweating and gaining strength. (3) Engaging. I like people. I miss people. Frankly, I often go days without interacting with other adults. save my husband. (4) I want a program that I believe in. I want to be confident that I will get results from my exercise programming.

Boom! Found it. It's the Master's Hammer and Chisel by BB.

I am a month into the program and I am seeing ALL the results I wanted to see. I am getting lean and building muscle at the same time. This is super hard to do y'all. Usually you need to pick one or the other: lean out or gain muscle. Anyhoo- as an added bonus I decided to invest in the challenge pack so I could join a Challenge Group. Here's the community feel I was missing! These women are like me, new moms, struggling with finding balance between our goals and the mommy-guilt, etc. We interact, motivate, hold each other accountable; on this fun little app. Every day I check in with the ladies and we root each other on. In this group I feel like I have a voice and I feel part of something big.
My overall positive experience lead me to the decision to be a beach body coach. Yup, you heard me.

Just call me Coach Kyla.

I believe in this program. I believe in the quality of all the BeachBody programs. Hell, I even like the Shakeology! For years I have been on IG promoting health and fitness. I realized that I have been coaching all along. The BeachBody Team and I seem like a great fit.
This May I will be co-hosting a Challenge Group. I am so excited to jump in and help these women stay focused and confident in their own fitness journeys.
